This weekend we took the kids up to Helen, Georgia which is about an hour and a half from Atlanta. Helen is known as the “Alpine Village in Georgia” because it was settled by German immigrants and all of the architecture was modeled after the buildings in Germany. We usually go up there once or twice a year. I have somewhat of a love hate relationship with the town of Helen. It’s a very small town but there are a lot of things to do especially if you have kids.
You can also stay in a cabin on the river if you like outdoorsy things. For tourists, they have horse carriages like the ones in New York City, lots of cute shops, a huge Oktoberfest and Christkindl Market during the holidays. If you are a foodie, most of the restaurants are obviously German Food so if you like German food this is a good place to visit. I am not a fan of German food but they do have a really good pizza place here which is usually my food of choice. This time we didn’t get pizza though. The kids got wings and we got nachos at Paul’s Margarita Deck. This place is really nice because its a huge covered deck and overlooks the river so our kids loved it!
One thing I don’t like it that it seems to be getting really dirty. If you are on the main strip the trash bins are overflowing and there is trash all over the street. People just don’t seem to care. Like I said though, I have a love-hate relationship with the town of Helen.
Anytime we’re in Helen, we usually go tubing on the river which is about a 2 hour ride on the water. However this time, when we got there we missed the last bus so we ended up playing mini golf instead. This was the kids’ first time playing mini golf so at first they were frustrated but about 3 holes in they started really enjoying it. At hole 15 there is a really scenic Cliffside view that is breathtaking we took a few pictures here.
OUTFIT DETAILS & SIZING
For reference, I’m 5’1″ & under 100 lbs. I normally wear the following sizes: Shoes (6), Tops (XS), Jeans (24/00)
Of course you know I had to take an outfit pic while I was there. It took m a long time to like “mom jeans” but I’m all in now! I recently found a dupe for the GRLFRND Karolina Jeans at Forever 21 that are practically identical. We all know the GRLFRND denim is crazy expensive so I was ecstatic to find an identical dupe but I wanted to try them on in store first. My local store didn’t have them but I found these and they fit perfect! They are true to size so I got my normal 24. My tank is also such a steal! It’s only $4 at WalMart and comes in a ton of colors. I don’t see this mustard color online yet but it’s new for fall so I’m sure it will be soon.
